In the new Rolling Stone cover story feature, Lil Wayne opened up about his disappointment in being passed over for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans. Wayne felt snubbed when Kendrick Lamar was ultimately chosen for the slot, and vowed never to perform at the event in the future. “They stole that feeling,” Weezy said “I don’t want to do it. It was perfect.” Wayne admits that he was blindsided when he wasn’t selected to perform, but still has respect for Jay-Z and Roc Nation, who oversee the halftime show. Wayne said he reached out to Lamar prior to his performance to show support, even though he didn’t watch the halftime show. “Every time I looked,” Wayne said of Lamar’s set, “it was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on.” (Rolling Stone)
